I was thinking about what to introduce today when i finally settled on 银魂(gintama). This is the first shonan comic that im going to introduce to all and the drawing is quite good. The comic/anime is so funny!! What's more, the main character, Gintoki[Gin in short], is the only one who have those kind of shit face and yet be handsome(in my opinion, that is). He is the one in the picture. Anyway, this is how the story goes:

The setting of the story is in Edo (before a change in name to tokyo in 1868), Japan, which has been taken over by aliens called Amanto since the late Edo period. To prevent the Amanto from attacking Edo, the government make a deal with them. The deal is that the Amanto can come and go and do whatever they want. As the samurai is a threat, the Amanto placed a ban on carrying swords in public causing the fall of the samurais. The story focuses on an eccentric samurai with a natural perm, Sakata Gintoki(he have silver hair!![gin is silver in jap]), his (partial) apprentice Shimura Shinpachi, and a teenage alien girl called Kagura. All three are "free-lancers" who search for work in order to pay the monthly rent, which usually goes unpaid anyway. They will do anything if they get money(most of the time) so there is alot of interesting stories in the comic/anime.

One of the funny thing is that, as Gin like to read Jump(a shonan comic magazine, if you don't know), so sometime Gin will talk about one piece and things like that. But the problem is, since he have no money to pay the rent most of the time, then where did he get money to buy Jump every week?? A mystery never to be solve(i think).

The thing is, or though Gin is very slack and everything, he is actually a very strong samurai(he can win others just by using his wooden sword when others are using real swords!!). He is kind of inspiring too, which makes him really cool.

Whatever it is, i love this comic/anime and i hope others will read it as well. It's actually very popular already, but i think more people should read it although the cartoonist is a bit weird(he said it himself).
